Role Overview:
My client, a large brand group, is looking for an experienced and dedicated Workshop Controller to help lead and inspire the workshop team at their Van Centre / Commercial Vehicle Centre in Heathrow.
This role is perfect for a workshop controller who is looking to step up into a bigger role at a prestigious site and is driven to robustly manage the flow of work through the workshop to ensure quality and compliance of all works carried out. A focus on maximizing utilization and ensuring technicians are working efficiently, safely, and to all guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the workshop processes are followed for every job.
2. Receive job cards from service reception, pre-time each job, and allocate work to technicians to maximize sold hours and monitor job progress.
3. Monitor workshop loading and ensure continuity.
4. Obtain authorization for any additional work required, either through service reception or by direct contact with the customer.
5. Oversee MOT to ensure quality and compliant workmanship and a first-time pass rate.
6. Be responsible at site level for upholding and implementing H&S processes and policies.
7. Lead and attend monthly H&S site meetings.
8. Ensure all warranty items are identified for each job and that parts replaced are labeled and documented.
9. Supervise, develop, and train the workshop team to achieve high levels of performance and quality.
10. Audit job packs for processing through to administration/invoicing.
11. Measure technician's activity and performance to deliver quality and compliant first-time fixes.
12. Inform customers when their vehicle is completed.
13. Ensure customer service levels meet company standards.
14. Schedule all PDIs and used vehicle preparation to meet sales department requirements.
15. Maintain special tools and equipment, notifying service manager of repair needs.
16. Handle customer complaints effectively or escalate as needed.
17. Supervise junior staff and manage workshop apprentices from a training and wellbeing perspective.
18. Ensure adherence to all service processes and company policies.
19. Meet all statutory requirements including trading standards and health and safety regulations.
Skills & Behaviours Required:
1. Previous experience as Workshop Controller / Supervisor in a dealership or fleet environment
2. Previous experience as a Technician / LCV Technician
3. Experience in a Commercial Vehicle environment is an advantage
4. NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent as a Vehicle Technician
