Bank Registered Paramedic (HCPC) in Emergency Care
We are looking for Bank Band 6 Paramedics to join our ED team.
You will have the opportunity to utilise your expertise to make an impact in our Emergency Department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich. We are looking for outstanding staff to help us deliver Exceptional Care.
As a Registered Paramedic, you will work within the multi-disciplinary team in the Emergency Department. Working within a defined scope of practice, you will work in a range of areas, including but not limited to Ambulance Assessment, Streaming, Initial Assessment, and Resuscitation.
You will take clinical accountability for a group of patients assigned to you, working collaboratively with medical and nursing staff within your area.
You will undertake clinical assessments, diagnostics, and provide prescribed clinical care within your Paramedic skillset.
You will share your Paramedic expertise with the wider team and support junior staff, Apprentices, and Students within your role.
You will be required to lead specific areas of the department upon request and delegate aspects of care to other Healthcare Professionals and Senior Healthcare Assistants, consistently upholding high standards and quality of emergency care.
All staff are expected to contribute to meeting Key Performance Indicators mandated by the service within the identified time frames.
The post holder will work the full complement of the rota as required by the service.

Job responsibilities

* Undertake triage and initial assessment of patients presenting to emergency care
* Undertake clinical assessment and examination of patients with emergency care presentations
* Support and undertake diagnostics in emergency care
* Respond, as requested, to patients deteriorating or requiring resuscitation
* Upon request, act as an ED transfer clinician for inter-facility transfers
* Accurately formulate and maintain a range of clinical documentation in both written and electronic form
* Assess and formulate person-centred care plans, promoting choice and independence at every opportunity
* Actively plan and engage for timely discharge from the Emergency Department, promoting safety and reducing risk
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Foundation Degree (FdSc), Dip HE and/or BSc Hons in Paramedic Science or IHCD Paramedic with Post Registration FdSc/Dip HE and/or BSc in Professional Practice (or equivalent degree)
* HCPC Registration as a Paramedic
* Completion of the National Newly Qualified Paramedic programme and portfolio sign off
* Leadership Module or Course/qualification
* Ambulance Service Advanced Life Support for Adults and Paediatrics (Certified)
* RCUK Advanced Life Support
Knowledge and skills
* Well-developed interpersonal skills
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
* Patient clinical assessment and examination using a systems approach
* Knowledge of vital signs, NEWS 2 and recognition of deterioration
* Venepuncture and cannulation
* 12 lead ECG acquisition and interpretation
* Evidence of continued professional development of self and other healthcare professionals
* Organisational skills
* Knowledge of research and audit
Experience
* Minimum two years post-registration experience
* Experience of working within the multidisciplinary team
* Experience of liaising with other agencies
* Ability to work autonomously
* Good time management and prioritisation skills
* Previous experience in the specialty
