Stanley Primary School
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Early Childhood Practitioner based at Stanley Primary Early Learning Centre.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to progress in Early Learning and Childcare (ELC).
The successful candidate will be contracted to work 36 hours over 45 weeks of the year. This post is fixed term until 16 August .
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and guiding our team, ensuring children have access to high quality learning experiences which are responsive to children's needs and interests.
You will assist in the organisation and management of the service for the benefit of all children, families and the wider community.
45 week settings are closed 2 weeks at Christmas and remain open the 1st week of October, 1st week of Easter, the first 3 weeks of the summer and for some public and occasional holidays.
SECPs working in 45 week settings may be required to work alternating shift patterns to meet the needs of the settings operational hours and in agreement with their line manager.
The planned interview date is Friday 25 April.
Skills & Experience Required
You must be able to work on your own initiative, alongside the senior leadership team (SLT) and as a team member who directly contributes to and supports colleagues in the development of a flexible childcare and early education service, which is appropriate to the needs of young children and their families in the centre and our surrounding community, within the context of both authority and nursery policies and procedures.
You must have SNNB/HNC/SVQ 3 in Childcare/Education or equivalent and be able to evidence additional studies e.g. PDA or modules from a relevant degree and have a commitment to work towards a qualification to allow registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a Lead Practitioner i.e. BA Childhood Practice within SSSC timescales.
We are looking for an individual who has experience in working in an Early Years settings who can inspire and motivate team members.
The individual appointed should be able to:
1. Work as part of the ELC Team to plan and lead quality early learning and childcare
assist in the overall organisation and management of the Nursery.
2. Monitor staff and policy/procedural tasks e.g. infection prevention and control.
3. Support staff with inclusive practices using the CIRCLE resource.
4. Lead transition for children starting Nursery and transition for those within Nursery e.g. SS2s to 3-5 spaces.
5. Contribute to whole staff self-evaluation, in a leadership role.
6. Help implement and evaluate improvement planning for session /26, as part of the SLT.
7. Work with SLT and ELC Team to identify improvement planning for /26
8. Ensure all safeguarding measures are in place and actioned.
