Position: Production Supervisor Location: HR Lincoln Job Type : Permanent Our client a market leader providing landing gear bearings, aerospace bearings of swaged and split construction, tram coupling and special vehicle suspension bearings. Working as part of the performance management team this varied role involves day to day supervision and planning of the production team (60 employees spread across 2 shifts). Ensuring parts are produced on time and to the required quality standard whilst maintaining all health and safety requirements. Role and Responsibilities – Awareness of all Health and Safety regulations/recommendations and all Company Health and Safety regulations/recommendations applicable within the area. Ensure regulations and recommendations are adhered to and a safe working environment is always maintained. Lead, direct and focus the efforts of the team whereby product is manufactured effectively and efficiently to meet the requirements of internal/external customer, whilst ensuring departmental and business targets are attained. Controlling adherence to the WTL whereby departmental and business targets are achieved. Ensuring the quality of manufactured product meets drawing specification and is handled / manufactured correctly to negate the need for any additional unplanned operations. Ensure shop-documentation and electronic information relating to all aspects of how product has been manufactured is accurate. Have awareness of quality standards/procedures and ensure these are followed. Identify and implement countermeasures when deviations to plans occur in a timely manner. Reporting on departmental achievements in an accurate and concise manner to Performance Management. Maintaining an organised work-area whereby set-up time is minimised, and the department is consistently in a clean and tidy state Liaising with all members of the Performance Management team to ensure achievement of departmental objectives. Ensure daily performance targets are met and continuous monitoring occurs to achieve them. Identifying Continuous Improvement activities that focus on Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People and Performance. Supervising Team-Members to ensure high-activity and efficiency levels are maintained. Engaging and motivating Team-Members through positive, effective and timely communication. Communicating effectively with Team-Members to ensure that information is transmitted clearly. Periodically reviewing team-members strengths and weaknesses, to identify development opportunities. Dealing with poor performance in a timely manner, with an appropriate style and response to ensure performance improvement. Dealing with repeated or serious poor performance through the Company Disciplinary Policy, (highlighting and recording informal warnings). Identifying the necessary human and material resources to meet departmental and business objectives. Identifying and communicating ‘self-development' requirements to Line Management. Carrying out additional ‘reasonable tasks' as required. Experience or Qualifications Essential – Dependable, responsible contributor who's committed to excellence and success. Generic business & part number knowledge. Good interpersonal skills, (team-worker/communicator). Target orientated. Man-management skills. Quality & Health and safety focused. Forward thinking. Organisational skills. Desirable – NVQ in Engineering manufacture or equivalent / Advanced Modern Apprenticeship. Formal qualifications in management. English Language and Maths to GCSE grade C or above. Computer Literate (ideally with a recognised qualification).
