About the job
Support the Programme Delivery Manager in the procurement, project management and delivery of a wide range of property construction and maintenance projects. To ensure these are delivered to an appropriate technical standard, safely, efficiently, and to satisfy all statutory, contractual and business requirements.
Your main responsibilities will be:
* Oversee the delivery of Alliance project managed property construction projects in accordance with specification, budget and timescales.
* Act as the Alliance sponsor for external project management delivery ensuring projects meet agreed outputs, specifications and budgets.
* Assist with the preparation of technical specifications, preliminary sketches and measured surveys for projects.
* Assist in the tendering process for projects ensuring full compliance with SWT financial and tendering process regulations and Station Property Departmental guidelines.
* Ensure that suppliers and contractors conform to appropriate technical and safety standards.
* Ensure Site Access Authority procedures and Network Rail consents and approvals are complied with and obtained wherever appropriate.
* Provide professional surveying and project management expertise, together with associated technical advice to assist in the development of the Alliance building portfolio.
* Initiate and evaluate innovative ideas and develop reliable solutions within financial constraints and timescales.
* Ensure all projects are delivered in a safe manner and comply with Health & Safety legislation and CDM regulations.
* Prepare and maintain documented project files for all projects and track progress against planned programmes.
You'll need to be:
* Able to work within a design and implementation environment and able to prioritise appropriately between the delivery and development functions.
* Should have a practical approach to construction projects with appreciation of the aesthetics and ergonomics of completed work.
* High standards of general education and ideally with professional qualifications in a building discipline to minimum HNC level.
* A thorough knowledge of construction Health & Safety legislation, ideally with both relevant qualifications (NEBOSH, etc) and experience of Health & Safety in the railway environment.
* A sound knowledge of construction and its legislative framework and ideally experience of construction in the railway technical environment.
* Good communication skills.
Working pattern
Working an average of 37 hours per week over 5 days.
