The Department of Psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London is inviting applications for a PhD studentship via The South East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc) for September 2025 entry. The South East Doctoral Training Arc (SEDarc) is a partnership of six leading UK universities funded by the Economic Social Research Council (ESRC), which offers world-class postgraduate research training in the social sciences. SEDarc’s vision is to offer a transformative social science training experience that combines leading- edge research skills training, high-quality placements for all, and an individual research project. The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus within commuting distance from London. At Royal Holloway, post holders will join an active postgraduate research community, in a thriving research environment. The Department of Psychology ranked 3rd in the UK in the 2021 REF for our world-leading and internationally excellent research The studentship is for 3.5 years but 3 months should be spent in a placement to develop career-relevant skills. The 2025/26 stipend is £21,237 (including £2,000 London Allowance). Eligibility: These PhDs are open to UK and international students and consist of UK home fees and stipend awards. Applicants without an MSc or equivalent professional or research experience are also eligible to apply but might be required to undertake a funded MSc in Psychology at the department first (totalling a 4.5 year studentship). Successful international recipients of a SEDarc studentship will receive a tuition fee award from the University covering the difference between home and international fees.
