LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANTS
Based Newport Isle of Wight
Vacancy Reference [24-14]: Salary £12 per hour (Rising in April 2025)
Candidates who do not complete the HTP application form process will not be able to be considered.
HTP Apprenticeship College offers class-based, work skills, and activity-based programmes designed to engage young people, some of whom have specific support needs, aimed at preparing those young people for further training, employment, and adulthood. We are looking for additional staff to work with and support learners in a mixture of specialisms on our class-based programmes. This may be in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
The roles are both challenging and rewarding and will suit enthusiastic and organised individuals who are focused on providing quality educational support to develop young people. Successful candidates will be fully integrated as part of the HTP team and are expected to deliver training, support learners, and contribute to the ongoing development of HTP’s programmes.
Experience working with Special Education Needs learners would be an advantage but is not necessary. Teaching experience or qualifications are also an advantage but not a necessity as training and development are supported by HTP. Candidates must, however, have a good academic level of English and maths (a minimum of GCSE Grade C or 4 or equivalent).
Candidates should have access to their own transport as the posts could involve taking learners to, or visiting learners in, work experience placements.
Vacancies are full-time permanent positions of 37 hours per week. Preference will be given to those candidates wishing to apply for these roles. Part-time positions of a minimum of 3 days / 22.5 hours may be considered.
As well as a salary based on £12 per hour, there is an additional benefits package and successful candidates will undergo a range of training and development which will be fully supported by HTP. Please note that an HTP working day is from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Thursday and 9 am to 4:30 pm Friday.
HTP is committed to equality of opportunity and safeguarding of young and vulnerable people as an organisation. We welcome applications from all sections of the community to join our diverse team. Successful candidates will be subject to enhanced DBS checks.
