Job Overview:
Are you a recent graduate with a passion for working with children and young people? Do you have a degree in Psychology, Social Work, Childcare, Youth Studies, or a related field and want to build a rewarding career in residential childcare?
We are looking for Graduate Residential Childcare Workers to join our team in a children’s residential care home. This role is ideal for those looking to gain hands-on experience in child and youth care while receiving full training and career development opportunities.
Note: This role is only open to U.K. residents. No Certificate of Sponsorship (COS) or overseas applications will be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct care, supervision, and emotional support to children and young people in a residential setting.
Assist young people in their daily routines, including education, leisure activities, and personal development.
Foster a safe, nurturing, and structured environment to promote well-being and independence.
Encourage children to develop self-help, independence, and social skills.
Implement and adhere to safeguarding policies to ensure the safety and protection of children.
Maintain accurate records and reports on the progress of young people.
Support children with learning disabilities and/or challenging behavior, when required.
Engage in outings, holidays, and activities with the children.
Work flexible hours, including sleep-in duties, evening shifts, weekends, and school holidays.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
✅ Degree (or currently studying towards a degree) in Psychology, Social Work, Youth Studies, Childcare, or a related field.
✅ NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or a willingness to work towards it).
✅ Must be a driver with access to a vehicle.
✅ Passion for working with children and young people.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
Experience in care work, voluntary work, or placements related to children’s services.
Understanding of safeguarding policies and residential childcare standards.
Skills or hobbies (e.g., sports, music, arts, or outdoor activities) that could positively contribute to the children’s development.
