We are looking for enthusiastic Occupational Therapists to join our medical and surgical team. There is the opportunity to potentially rotate within our generic rotations or be static within this area. This post will predominately be working across a variety of acute medical and surgical wards; including amputees, frailty, with potential for further opportunity to work within critical care within Northwick Park Hospital. Main duties of the job This post holder will be an autonomous practitioner, assisting in the coordination and provision of a specialist occupational therapy service to patients within the designated case load within medical and surgical wards. To perform specialist assessments of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a clinical diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme. You will be expected to manage their own caseload working alongside the multi-disciplinary team and other external agencies to ensure specialist treatment plans, including physio, Social Services, specialist nurses etc. You will be expected to work collaboratively with patients, family, carers and with colleagues in health and social services to ensure effective discharge planning, policy and delivery of services to this patient group. You will be asked to deputise in the absence of the Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist to represent the department at relevant meetings both in and outside the Trust. The post holder will contribute to departmental meetings, and participate in audits and regularly undertakes research and CPD activities in specialist area. He/she will be responsible for maintaining a professional and specialist knowledge base through participation in appraisal and CPD activities and attendance at specialist courses relevant to area of work.
