Salary: £36,124-£40,476 (SO2 FTE)
Contract: Full Time, Permanent, Full Year (Term Time plus 2 weeks will be considered on request)

Whitehill Primary School sits on the border between South Reddish and the Heatons. We are a small, friendly school with a real family feel having just under 200 children on roll. We pride ourselves on the rich diversity of our school with 54% of pupils entitled to free school meals, 25% of children on the SEND register and 20 home languages spoken by our children and their families. The school was judged by Ofsted in 2018 as “Good” and this was maintained in Feb 2024 during an ungraded inspection.
The school has a stable and friendly staff, which adds to our family orientated ethos of the school. The senior leaders and Governors of the school are knowledgeable and supportive with a key focus on work-life balance and maintaining manageable workloads. We have a commitment to continued professional development.
The school works closely with Local Authority Partners, including H&S, Finance, Governance and Information Governance. The school also works with external partners, such as Hr, Payroll, School Improvement, IT and Legal. The school currently manages its own catering provision and site staff.
The Role:
As the School Business Manager, you will play a key role in the efficient and effective management of the school’s business and operational functions. You will work closely with the headteacher, staff, governors, and external partners to ensure the school runs smoothly and continues to offer the best possible experience for our children.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the financial management of the school, including budget planning, monitoring, and reporting.
* Manage the day-to-day operations of the school, including HR, facilities, and health and safety.
* Liaise with the headteacher and governors to support school strategy and operational decisions.
* Ensure compliance with all legal, financial, and regulatory requirements.
* Lead on procurement, including managing contracts and suppliers.
* Support with fundraising and income generation where appropriate.
* Supervise and manage a small administrative team, fostering a positive working environment.
* Work closely with the headteacher to support school improvement planning and resource allocation.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Proven experience in school business management or a similar role.
* Strong financial and budgeting skills, with the ability to manage resources efficiently.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
* Experience in managing HR, facilities, and compliance issues.
* A passion for supporting children’s education and the ethos of a small, close-knit school.
* Knowledge of school funding and financial regulations.
* A positive and friendly attitude, able to build good relationships with staff, parents, and the wider community.
