We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-run building company based in North Yorkshire. Specialising in high-end residential projects, their work includes new builds, refurbishments, extensions, maintenance, and restoration-ranging from single-storey extensions to multi-million-pound developments. With a brand-new office nearing completion, they offer an excellent working environment and a strong team culture.
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join a growing business. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the full project lifecycle-from conceptual stage, planning, and design, through to construction, handover, and finalisation. You will be required to handle 3-4 projects simultaneously and attend site meetings 1-2 times per month. This is an office-based role, with occasional site visits as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Pricing projects from first principles and preparing cost estimates.
* Managing supplier and subcontractor enquiries throughout the tendering process.
* Assisting in preparing, developing, and monitoring project programmes.
* Leading tender adjudications alongside the Managing Director.
* Handling post-tender queries and negotiations.
* Managing monthly valuations for successful contracts.
* Liaising directly with clients, site staff, and subcontractors throughout each stage of the project.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in SME residential and commercial construction.
* Strong organisational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Ability to work efficiently and precisely to meet deadlines.
* Capable of managing multiple projects (3-4) simultaneously.
* A team player with an adaptable approach.
* Willing to attend site meetings 1-2 times per month.
* Valid UK driving licence.
