Job Description:
The Grant Thornton Digital Audit Team provides best-in-class digital products, services, and skills to enable the auditors of the future to set the industry benchmark for professional services firms, leveraging digital, data, and technology opportunities to be the number one practice for audit quality, client service, and operational excellence.
The Data Hub sits at the heart of the digital audit team (DAT) data strategy and is involved in many projects that are enabling other DAT teams to focus on operational reporting. The Data Hub is key to the delivery of the data models and data visualizations of that operational reporting and enabling our people to surface key metrics about products, services, and skills. We work with cutting-edge technology to extract, store, develop, and share this data with the team and the audit practice. A look into the role
As a Leap Data Manager within the DAT, you will be:
1. Supporting the development and maintenance of our data and reporting infrastructure.
2. Supporting in designing, developing, and implementing data structures and pipelines using Microsoft Fabric or similar solutions, with guidance from senior team members.
3. Supporting in troubleshooting and resolving data pipeline queries with the support of engineers.
4. Collaborating with data stewards, data engineers, methodology and risk management specialists, and business analysts to understand their data requirements and deliver effective solutions.
5. Supporting the data quality approach to ensure consistent data access to a “single source of truth.”
6. Engaging with stakeholders to ensure reporting is at least fit for purpose and, at best, creating and delivering added value.
7. Participating in code reviews, actively seeking feedback for continuous learning and improvement.
8. Supporting the data team and the digital audit team in data queries.
9. Implementing best practices when designing solutions and deploying these solutions.
10. Developing data strategies and documentation that incorporates the development and release framework of the DAT.
Knowing you’re right for us
Joining us as a Leap Data Manager, the minimum criteria you’ll need is to be educated to A-Level/BTEC or equivalent and have demonstrable experience of delivering reporting via Power BI utilizing a well-rounded skill set. It would be great if you had some of the following skills, but don’t worry if you don’t tick every box; we’ll help you develop along the way.
1. Demonstrates sound industry and technical knowledge and can apply this in the role.
2. Seeks regular feedback and identifies and acts upon learning and development needs to develop technical and personal skills.
3. Have a strong background in data architecture or data modeling.
4. Experience in SQL queries for data extraction and transformation with an awareness of risk to the integrity of that data.
5. Experience in data warehousing and data lake concepts.
6. Understanding of data integration patterns and best practices, with a willingness to learn more about them.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
