UK Research and Innovation is a new entity that brings together nine partners to create an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation, more information can be found at www.ukri.org Band MRC - 5 Location Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire Salary £28,498 per annum Contract Type Permanent Job Type Administration & Management Full Time / Part Time Full Time Job Description Overall Purpose: To assist in providing a professional and proactive Human Resources service to the Medical Research Council (MRC) units based at Harwell. To provide a full lifecycle of HR activities for the following units, with the HR team's support; the Mary Lyon Centre (MLC), the Centre for Macaques (CFM), the Research Complex at Harwell (RCaH) and the Nucleic Acid Therapy Accelerator (NATA). Please note that the HR Officers' main duties/key responsibilities will be assigned to ensure that each employee is contributing to the team's collective workload, while also encouraging individual accountability. This will also include additional project-based requirements of the business. Main Duties/Key Responsibilities: Manage the administration for all recruitment campaigns, liaising with recruiting managers on their vacancies and working closely with the UKRI Recruitment team to identify suitable media etc, planning recruitment campaigns, entering data onto our internal recruitment system, monitoring applications, compiling shortlisting packs, coordinating and administering invite to interviews, meeting and greeting candidates, conducting right-to-work checks and liaising with the UKRI Immigration team to ensure compliance with immigration legislation Make verbal job offers and introduce the onboarding process Administer the onboarding of all new employees, including creating employment contracts, right to work checks, new starter forms and, monitoring the progress of pre-employment checks and liaising with the hiring managers Promote the MRC/UKRI's reputation as the 'best place to work' Coordinate induction plans and HR sessions with new starters Coordinate the first-day induction process for all new starters Deliver the HR and Finance monthly induction Monitor and apply HR and recruiting best practices/processes e.g. probations etc. Undertake all administrative duties related to the employee lifecycle, liaising with UK Shared Business Services (UK SBS) if required Undertake the monthly payroll administration, ensuring that all changes are notified to Payroll in a timely manner Monitor and manage the HR shared email inboxes Act as a first point of contact to provide HR support and advice to all employees for general HR e.g. HR queries, recruitment issues, etc, ensuring adherence to UKRI and MRC policies and legislation Liaise with employees on family leave, dealing with queries and providing information and assistance on the application of the policy, and processing all paperwork as required Coordinate medical screening appointments and manage the occupational health database and portal, including the coordination of regular health surveillance activities Timely minute taking for operational meetings and the coordination of any relevant documentation and diary management Act as a note-taker for formal meetings, as and when required Coordinate and monitor all mandatory training and coordinate on-site training courses Arrange the onboarding and necessary paperwork for visiting workers, providing logistical support if required Analyse monthly reports on fixed-term contracts, managing the starting and ending of these roles in accordance with policy and current legislation, and ensuring at all times that the appropriate process is followed Monitor sickness absence levels, highlighting to managers where employees exceed the UKRI sickness absence monitoring points. Provide assistance, advice and support to managers on sickness absence management issues where necessary including practical involvement in meetings and discussions.
