Inspired Schools are currently recruiting for a Senior Sports Coach to support its vision of supporting More Children to become More Active, More Often. Inspired Somerset currently works with 30 Somerset Primary schools on a weekly basis, providing curricular and extra curricular opportunities for children to fall in love with Physical Education and Sport. Our Community project encompasses Gifted & Talented centres, evening studios, holiday sports camps, birthday parties, and sports specific development centres. In order to further develop our offer and grow our project we are looking for a Head of School & Community Sports Development.
Job Title: Area Manager and Senior Sports Coach (Bridgwater)
Position: 37.5 hours per week (52 weeks per year)
Salary: £19,500 - £22,000 basic salary plus performance related bonuses

Job Definition: Senior Sports Coach
This dedicated individual will be employed on a full time basis working with our existing partners and identifying new partners and revenue streams. There is an element of P.E. delivery within the role. The new Senior Sports Coach will be managed by an Inspired Schools Director and will work together on developing the new three-year delivery strategy for Inspired Schools. They will be responsible for line managing a small team of coaches and managing their performance. Primary Schools within the County are committed to providing multiple opportunities for their children within P.E. & Sport and our new Head of School & Community Development will become an integral part of this. By engaging a new Head of School & Community Sports Development, Inspired Somerset has a vision: To provide every 5-11 year old within Somerset additional opportunities to fall in love with Physical Education and Sport, as we strive towards our core business need of seeing More Children, More Active, More Often.
Responsibilities:
1. Teach Physical Education and Physical Activity within allocated schools.
2. Line manage a small group of coaches, their performance, and development.
3. Take a professional approach to planning, preparation and organisation of lessons and activities.
4. Ensure high quality classroom management.
5. Plan and prepare schemes of work with schools & Inspired Sports Coaches.
6. Keep up to date with government initiatives relating to teaching of Physical Education & Sport and prepare policies and departmental targets as required.
7. Contribute to the development of Inspired Somerset delivery strategy.
8. Complete regular PE/Support reviews with existing Partner schools.
9. Manage school delivery timetable.
10. Manage Inspired Somerset Sports Coaches curricular and extra curricular timetables, including Sports Camp scheduling.
11. Manage cover requirements of the project, scheduling cover coaches with schools and coordinating sickness, holiday and commitments of existing delivery staff.
12. Contribute and goal setting within Quarterly delivery plan.
13. In line with Inspired Somerset's three-year delivery strategy and quarterly delivery plan, work with existing partners and identify new partners to grow existing delivery hours and revenue streams.
14. With support and in line with quarterly development plan, promote Inspired Somerset's work through all available channels.
15. Work with admin staff to ensure all Inspired Staff have completed employability checks prior to starting role and support ongoing staff Continued Professional Development.
16. Evaluate and monitor activities and projects using Key Performance Indicators.
17. Support Inspired Schools with delivery/CPD specific to the Inspired Playgrounds project both on a local and national level.
18. Be responsible for themselves and others in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
19. Any other duties deemed responsible by your line manager.
Person Specification:
Technical Criteria:
1. A degree or Foundation Degree in a Sports/Business related subject.
2. Experience and understanding of the PE National Curriculum and working with children at Key Stage 1 and 2.
3. Understanding of and commitment to partnership working and communication.
4. Knowledge and Understanding of:
1. Planning and delivering high quality PE and sports activities.
2. Health and Safety in Sport.
3. Child protection in Sport.
5. Experience of planning and delivering to a strategy based around Key Performance Indicators.
6. Mobile and able to work from a variety of locations.
7. Experienced in the use of technology as a communication medium.
8. Experience of working in a customer-facing service.
9. Evidence of successful project management.
10. NGB Level 3 Coaching Qualification or Qualified Teacher status.
11. Experience of managing a team.
12. A good insight into Sporting/Health related issues.
