I am currently working with a mid to high-end independent opticians that are committed to providing exceptional customer service. They offer a relaxed pace and focus on individualised attention which set them apart in the eyecare industry. They are dedicated to ensuring their clients receive the best possible eyecare experience.
The owner is now seeking a Practice Manager to join their team and help maintain the smooth operation of the practice. With a straightforward practice structure and a director handling the back-office sides of the business such as recruitment, KPI’s and P&L, this role primarily involves overseeing day-to-day operations, rota’s, dispensing, leading from the front and ensuring the highest standards of customer service.
Salary: Up to £32,000 per annum (based on experience and qualification)
Bonus scheme based on customer reviews and year-on-year turnover (per month)
Free on street parking
Hours: Weekdays: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with 1-hour lunch + Saturdays: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Responsibilities of the Optical Practice Manager
1. Manage the daily operations of the practice, ensuring efficient and effective workflow.
2. Oversee and support administrative tasks, including appointment scheduling and managing patient records.
3. Provide excellent customer service, addressing client inquiries and concerns.
4. Coordinate with the director and the team to maintain an organised and welcoming practice environment.
5. Monitor and maintain inventory of optical products and supplies.
6. Support the director in promoting eye plans and encouraging positive Google reviews.
7. Handle occasional managerial tasks, such as staff scheduling and training, as needed.
8. Collaborate with the team to maintain the practice’s boutique and independent character.
Requirements of the Optical Practice Manager
1. Prior experience in a managerial or supervisory role is preferred but not required.
2. Previous experience of working in an opticians and being able to competently dispense to all levels is a minimum requirement.
3. A Dispensing Optician Qualification and registration on the GOC is preferred but not essential.
4. Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Passion for providing exceptional customer service in the eyecare industry.
Compensation for the Optical Practice Manager
1. Competitive salary, up to £32,000 per annum.
