Salford Community Leisure is recruiting on behalf of GM Active CIC for the role of Prehab4Cancer Exercise Specialist.
GM Active are seeking a highly skilled Exercise Specialist/Physiologist to join the multi-award winning Prehab4Cancer programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that cares deeply about improving the lives of people effected by cancer in Greater Manchester. The scheme empowers patients to take back control of their diagnosis, build resilience ahead of intense cancer related treatment and improve patients’ quality of life.
GM Active is a collective of 12 leisure and community organisations from across Greater Manchester that are all part of the same movement, to get more people physically active. GM Active’s vision is for a network of innovative, responsive, resilient, and high performing Greater Manchester Leisure and Cultural Trusts that deliver transformational health and wellbeing outcomes through collaboration across Greater Manchester’s communities.
Increasingly, exercise and physical activity is seen as standard elements of patient care across cancer treatment pathways. The Prehab4Cancer programme delivers to patients, a multimodal prehab and rehab intervention. Patients are referred directly from primary care to be supported with an exercise, nutrition and wellbeing programme, before and after treatment to improve individual health outcomes. The scheme is independently evaluated (GM_Prehab4Cancer_Evaluation_Report_Final-003.pdf ) and has proved outstanding results.

Receiving guidance and support from the Programme Manager, you will be an integral part of the specialist Prehab4Cancer core delivery team coordinating and delivering a varied and insight driven prehab and rehab programme for cancer patients. This role will incorporate both face to face delivery and remote delivery so will have an element of home working.
The post holder will manage the project in a defined geographical area of Greater Manchester during times of annual leave or when the service demands.
The successful post holder will join the Prehab4Cancer core delivery team which is housed within Salford Community Leisure (SCL). The payment for this will be deducted from your first two months’ salary payments at a rate of £24.75 per month.
