About the role
We’ve an exciting opportunity to support the development of your career as a Water Supply Manager within the North East of England supporting several of our Water Supply Team Managers to deliver amazing clean drinking water to our customers through the treatment works we manage.
The treating of high-quality water for our customers is our role and we're always striving to continually improve what we do. In the role of Water Supply Manager, you’ll be leading your team to deliver great water quality to meet customer demand through the development and implementation of operational and tactical plans for water treatment while maximising efficiencies within your area of responsibility.
You’ll lead your team to deliver high quality and cost-efficient water supplies to meet customer demand, through the application of continuous improvement processes and coordination with service providers such as water quality, service planning, asset investment and maintenance.
We’re looking for you to be accountable for the operation of the site(s) and ensuring through your team that there is sufficient water to meet forecasted demand and is treated in line with our regulatory requirements at the right cost.
We’re looking for you to develop and maintain strong relationships with our capital project teams to ensure effective delivery of the agreed solution, in the role as asset user. You’ll also be responsible for the planning and coordinating of activities with service providers such as maintenance, RCC and Asset Investment to ensure work is not aborted or delayed, along with writing coordination planning documents for planned work.
You’ll be ensuring performance and continuous improvement information and reports are used to inform performance of the whole water supply team, along with implementing agreed policies that provide a consistent framework approach across all your operating areas, as well as developing stretching budgets, monitoring and building justification for forecasted overspends.
In the role we will be providing you with the development opportunity in Leadership, Project Delivery and Budget/Financial Management within NWL.
Previous experience in the water industry is not required, as we are looking for someone with transferable skills who can grow and excel in this role.
About you
The successful candidate should have established leadership skills as well as displaying sound technical and practical awareness which is seen as being essential in supporting and managing operational field-based teams. You’ll be comfortable working in a reactive environment and will also display excellent communication and customer service skills and have a desire to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment.
Experience of coaching and developing teams while instilling a mind-set and a culture of working safely, as well as having the ability to think on your feet and make effective decisions quickly is also large part of the requirement of this role.
You’ll have proven experience in budget control and driving performance and have pragmatic problem-solving skills.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
