Professional Networks and Mentoring Manager
Location: Godalming
Salary: £23,025 per annum based on 0.6 FTE
Hours: 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE) working 09.00 - 17.30 hours (with an unpaid lunch hour), across three days per week (Monday to Friday). The demands of the role may require working outside these times, including evenings and weekends.
The Role
The School seeks to appoint a Professional Networks & Mentoring Manager to work closely with stakeholders and colleagues to deliver a rolling programme of alumni mentoring and professional networking activities.
The External Relations Department's aim is to deliver the gold-standard in stakeholder-centred engagement and messaging (within the UK education sector), in order to:
1. Position the school as a first-choice destination school for academically able pupils seeking a premium independent boarding-style education.
2. Engage effectively, creatively and consistently with all stakeholder groups (parents, alumni, pupils, staff, friends).
3. Deliver engagement, marketing, communications and events strategies which enable the School to proactively influence the decision-making of all its key audiences.
4. Drive significant additional value to all income-generating elements of the School (pupil recruitment, customer satisfaction, donations, commercial activity).
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and manage a multi-year activity plan for alumni and parent engagement in mentoring and professional networking.
2. Deliver key alumni and parent engagement activities and events such as their annual programme of professional networking events and careers breakfasts, alongside identifying volunteering opportunities and additional careers-focused events.
3. Work closely with fundraisers to ensure that professional networking activity links effectively and appropriately into planned fundraising activity.
4. Support colleagues in the delivery of the School's FutureU programme, contributing to a range of employability and professional development activities to benefit pupils.
5. Manage and deliver a growing mentoring programme in support of peer-to-peer alumni mentoring, training, and key skills development.
6. Manage the school's Connect (their online community platform), helping with enquiries for mentoring and providing support for mentors and mentees.
7. Manage a bespoke framework for the School to track measurable outcomes on the impact of the mentoring and professional networking activities undertaken.
8. Help maintain comprehensive and accurate records of alumni and parent relations activity on the department database (Raiser's Edge) and ensure compliance with GDPR.
9. Keep up to date with sector trends in alumni relations through research and networking opportunities.
10. Manage relationships with the OC Club Executive Committee.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Educated to degree level or equivalent or possess an equivalent level of skills, knowledge, and experience.
2. Experience of working within alumni relations or a similar professional network-based environment.
3. Experience in developing membership programmes and working closely with senior volunteers and committees.
4. Experience in event management including organising and delivering a wide range of events.
5. Experience in using fundraising/relationship databases, ideally Raiser's Edge.
6. Excellent working knowledge of GDPR and its implications in Foundation work.
7. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
8. Demonstrable engagement with suitable networks or professional bodies with a commitment to continued professional development.
9. Good knowledge of communications and event planning methods and techniques.
10. Good working knowledge of website content management systems and/or email marketing software.
