About the role:
As a lecturer in Sport and Public Services, you will be expected to assist with the effective planning and organisation of Sports and Public Services programmes and teach on a range of Sport and Public Services related courses with students of varying abilities teaching across a range of levels and awarding bodies, including L1, L2 and L3 courses as well as working with NCFE and BTEC. You should be willing to assist the Curriculum Manager with curriculum development and the expansion and development of the department, as well as the promotion of Sport and Public Services and other courses in the Service Industries curriculum areas and participate in marketing events as required.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver a high-quality learning experience to achieve the goal or qualification for which students are studying.
2. Teach effectively on a range of College courses and programmes.
3. Lead a small course team and be a course tutor as required.
4. Contribute to the personal development of the students.
5. Develop course materials, schemes of work, lesson plans, etc., and make these available through the college's shared information system.
6. Contribute to the organisational requirements of the School and the College.
7. Carry out all duties and responsibilities with due regard to the College's Single Equality Scheme.
8. Co-operate with the College to ensure your own health and safety and that of students and colleagues.
9. Teach on a range of programmes relevant to the curriculum subject.
10. Make a significant contribution to curriculum development and course co-ordination.
11. Teach on programmes in other College service delivery areas as may be reasonably required.
12. Tutorial and personal development work with a range of students.
13. Contribute effectively to the team's collective responsibility for marketing activities, regular meetings, the induction of new members, planning, designing and updating the programme and its materials and activities, delivering the programme, course and student records and associated administration, recruitment and interviewing of students, the assessment of students, monitoring student progress, the evaluation of the programme, identifying personal and professional development needs, and developing and maintaining links with employers.
Qualifications and Requirements:
The successful candidate will be qualified or working towards a teaching qualification. You should have teaching or training experience in a relevant subject at L3 or degree level, with a minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy. You need to demonstrate your ability to articulate clearly and to be understood in a range of teaching situations. Be a team player with good communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and external bodies. You should also demonstrate efficient administration skills to support good student record-keeping. Have energy and enthusiasm for working in a rapidly changing environment and the ability to demonstrate flexibility in working practices using a wide range of teaching aids, including ILT as applicable.
