We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic candidate to become the Harvesting Manager at a food growing site in East Yorkshire.
The salary is up to £55,000 depending on experience.
We are looking for someone who is able to manage the harvest of crops in a sensitive and delicate manner reaching the desired pick rates for efficient harvesting of the crops, is able to manage the planning and organisation of the houses along with the Pickers and Placers competencies, Supervisor competencies, training and Health and Safety and food safety for each house.
Your main duties will include;
1. Ensuring quality, quantity and checks of products are all up to the highest of standard this includes focus on weights, sizing, stem length, punnet identification and capping up,
2. Training, coaching and mentoring staff to reach the desired level of pick rates,
3. Making decisions of staffing, recruitment and general people plans and completing manning plans for the growing rooms and organising staff with agency if required,
4. Liaising with the harvest team leaders, harvesting supervisors, growing manager, production manager & engineering manager with any issues regarding team members, yields, machinery,
5. Detect and rectify any issues in a timely manner, which affects the performance / safety of plant or equipment,
6. Ensure all food safety culture and legislation / guidelines as well as company policies are adhered to alongside members of sites Food safety, HACCP, TACCP, VACCP team,
7. Ensure GMP and housekeeping are strictly abided by,
8. Flexible approach to working hours,
9. Ensure any work carried out complies with relevant health and safety standards.
Essential Experience/ Qualities ;
1. Mushroom picking experience,
2. Good communication skills and people management skills,
3. IT Skills and numerical skills,
4. Team Player.
Hours consist of 5/7 days to suit business needs, overtime and weekend work during peak season will be required.
