Position
Description And Main Purpose Of Role
The Trainee Base Engineer is responsible for acquiring the skills and experience for ensuring all survey and IT equipment is configured correctly onshore before being sent offshore. They will assist the Senior Base Engineer and Workshop Supervisor in ensuring engineering work carried out is conducted safely and meets quality requirements. The role will also be involved with local/international vessel mobilisations & demobilisations under the supervision of a senior workshop team member or the offshore Party Chief. The Trainee Base Engineer shall ensure smooth operation and maintenance of the workshop environment, ensuring all HSE requirements are delivered to the highest standard.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
* Upholding the highest standards of best practice in line with Company IMS.
* Play an active role in the QHSE culture of the business and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
* Support with logistics duties (local equipment deliveries/collections).
* Maintain accurate records of the following using Sulmara’s Asset Management software:
* Goods received & dispatched.
* Calibration & certification.
* Assets.
* Under supervision until in-house training is completed, checking, inspecting and documenting survey equipment prior to mobilisation to ensure equipment is fit-for-purpose to client requirements.
* Responsible for the care and safety of company equipment.
* Assisting with international/local mobilisations/demobilisations as required.
* Under supervision until in-house training is completed, conduct factory acceptance tests (FATs) at supplier sites.
* Responsible for ensuring the workshop and warehouse environment meets all HSE requirements.
* Manage and carry out specific workshop tasks assigned by Workshop Manager/Workshop Supervisor and/or Senior Base Engineer.
* Adhere to the Company’s procedures and policies.
* Perform any other delegated duties or tasks as instructed by your Line Manager.
Requirements
Skills Requirements
* Basic knowledge of Surveying principles would be advantageous but not necessary.
* Good fault-finding skills and ability to problem solve.
* Ability to manage and prioritise tasks.
* Basic IT skills and good understanding of PC hardware.
* Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
* Highly cooperative approach and able to work under own direction or as part of a team.
* Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
Experience, Competency And Qualifications
* HNC or higher in electronic or engineering discipline would be advantageous.
* Must have or be working towards holding a full UK driving license.
