The Role: CASS Accountant

As the CASS Accountant, you will be responsible for providing support to the IBA Controls & MI Manager ensuring the IBA control environment complies with FCA CASS regulation and the delivery of timely and insightful MI to the IBA team and related stakeholders. You will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the IBA Controls Team and have a clear understanding of unidentified cash amounts, log CASS breaches, and work closely with the other internal IBA teams to increase efficiency by identifying and implementing process improvements.
The successful candidate will act as the liaison between the IBA and Management Accounting Teams ensuring that accounting issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for timely, effective controls & reconciliations as per the FCA requirements across various Group bank accounts including client money calculations, paper bank reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and insurer money calculations.
* Provide timely MI and insightful commentary to assist the IBA Controls & MI Manager and other stakeholders identify control weaknesses and improve business performance.
* Responsible for identifying root causes arising from reconciliation issues working with the IBA team and stakeholders to address and improve business performance and internal controls.
* Act as the conduit for CASS and statutory audits, agreeing deadlines, ensuring deliverables meet requirements and managing queries to resolution.
* Identify and log CASS breaches, identifying root causes and working with colleagues to resolve and prevent future occurrences.
* Ensure a definitive understanding of unidentified cash amounts, working closely with IBA and business colleagues to clear in accordance with agreed timelines.
* Work with the business and IBA Team to maximise cashflow from IBA related activities by building rolling forecasts and identifying areas of improvement.
* Build relationships across the organisation and effectively communicate with various key stakeholders.
* Manage the IBA Controls Team providing effective feedback and training and development opportunities to new and existing team members.
* Provide support for the transition of new business into the Group and eventual integration into the team as required.
Required Experience and Skills:
* Qualified accountant ACCA / ACA
* Experience of managing teams including performance management & training and development
* Working knowledge of broking systems including Acturis, Websure, SSP, Epic and TAM.
* Clear understanding of FCA CASS regulation, preferably with experience of CASS audits.
* Familiar with mainstream bank providers and multi-currency operations.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Advanced level in MS Office suit especially with MS Excel.
* A self-starter who can challenge existing processes with the intention of enhancing key business areas.
* Deliver required tasks accurately and on time whilst working under pressure.
* Have a positive can do attitude with natural problem-solving abilities that are accompanied with a high level of attention to detail.
* Be able to work as part of a team collaboratively as well as on your own initiative.
