About the role
As the Head of Maths, you will take the lead in delivering high-quality teaching and learning in mathematics, ensuring that all pupils progress academically and personally. You will play a crucial role in shaping the Maths curriculum throughout the school, guiding and supporting other Maths teachers to maintain high standards. Your key responsibilities will include planning and delivering engaging lessons, preparing pupils for the 11+ Senior School Examinations, and providing pastoral care. You will be responsible for assessing and reporting on students' progress and working closely with parents to ensure their children’s development. Additionally, you will help create a positive learning environment by maintaining classroom displays, supervising lunch sessions, and contributing to the overall well-being of students. As a role model, you will embody the school’s ethos in your professionalism and personal conduct, and contribute to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
This is a full-time, permanent role with a September 2025 start date.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Maths specialist with a strong commitment to both teaching and student well-being. You should be a qualified teacher (QTS) with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to manage a classroom effectively. Experience in teaching across Key Stage 2 and preparing pupils for the 11+ examinations is desirable. You should demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to your own professional development. A calm, positive, and energetic approach, combined with the ability to work under pressure, will help you thrive in this role. You will also need to be dedicated to safeguarding and supporting students’ emotional and academic growth.
