Environment Monitoring and Analytics Lead
Location: Remote (Occasional Travel to Maidenhead)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
The CEA Strategy & Insights team is a new team within CEA that aims to amplify CEA’s impact, by creating clarity and building focus, through strategic, data-driven insights. As a center of excellence within CEA, we focus on the most impactful problems, bringing both internal and external perspectives to bear and working collaboratively with partners across CEA and broader business.
Our three areas of focus include:
1. Actively monitoring and interpreting the external environment for media, social, and wider political/economic trends that may have potential impact on the company.
2. Measuring CEAs impact across our communications and policy work to support prioritisation and goal setting.
3. Cross-CEA project work to respond to key CEALT/GLG strategic corporate affairs questions.
This role will support across all areas of the Strategy & Insights team but will primarily focus on actively monitoring and interpreting the external environment. As an early joiner to a new team, this role will be critical in shaping the future of the team as we build a future-proof CEA organisation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Review, consolidate, and drive effectiveness of existing news, social media and reputation tracking, maximizing the value of our existing tools and refining our processes to drive real impact from insight we generate. Specifics include:
* Collaborating with social media colleagues to monitor social channels with social listening tools, sharing relevant insights and reporting with key stakeholders across CEA and the business.
* Media monitoring using the Meltwater or Talkwater platform to examine mentions and topics impactful to the company, and evaluate trends in coverage over time to drive continuous improvement in our external engagement activity.
* Collaborating with Reputation colleagues on analysing data from Reptrak and other sources to monitor the company’s reputation with different stakeholders, informing and measuring impact of reputational activities, monitoring for issues.
* Provide critical insight and monitoring on key topics, audiences or geographies to the CEA Leadership Team, leveraging tools across all monitoring channels and bespoke analysis where necessary, e.g. on:
* Specific topics of interest driving reputational risk where enhanced monitoring and proactive management is required from senior stakeholders.
* Gauge and interpret investor commentary and sentiment.
* Monitor geopolitical risks or changes in policy/public environment in key geographies of interest, and work with internal experts to evaluate implications for the company.
* Support broader cross-functional projects and initiatives within CEA as needed.
* Work with global senior leaders on the effective utilization of metrics and analytics, preparing and presenting reports and presentations as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, or a scientific discipline related field, or equivalent additional professional experience.
* Further education (Master’s degree, MBA, PhD, professional qualification or equivalent) is preferred.
* 5+ years of relevant experience in consulting, corporate affairs, academia or a related field, including:
* Experience working in pharmaceuticals, biotech or vaccines (specific experience of plasma derived therapies a plus).
* Exposure to corporate affairs issues and questions, for example through project work looking at public company external positioning, government affairs interactions, industry association partnerships etc.
* A proven track record of using data and insight to influence senior executive decision making.
* Experience operating in a matrix environment, collaborating across functions to drive outcomes.
* Influencing: Ability to persuade and influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Analysis: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, including in a highly matrixed organisation.
* Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
