A quick look at the role
The Finance Manager manages a small team of finance administrators in the Polymers business and ensures that our internal controls are robust and fully complied with while also having a firm focus on management of business cash flow. Reporting to the Polymers Finance Director, you will provide an opportunity to support in the growth of the Biffa Polymers business and implement meaningful change to processes as we go through a new system implementation.

Your core responsibilities
* Cash forecasting and reporting in accordance with group guidelines, including the bank reconciliation and cash book postings.
* Lead the period end timetable and ensure all scheduled PE tasks are completed on schedule including reconciling and agreeing critical general ledger balances on a monthly basis.
* Coordinate the preparation and submission of quarterly returns including VAT and Waste Management.
* Full management of the intercompany process and all related queries.
* Ledger management and Balance Sheet reconciliation.
* Ownership of the AR and AP processes in Polymers sub-division.
* Liaising with commercial/financial staff to ensure financial issues are identified and resolved
* Take an active review approach to processes and systems to identify and implement improvements.
* Management of the Fixed Asset Register and process, including monitoring sub-divisional compliance with IFRS16.
* Lead and coach 3 direct reports within your team and contribute to the advancement of the wider finance team to ensure tasks and responsibilities are clearly defined.

Our essential requirements
* Part qualified accountant (ACCA or CIMA)
* Experience supporting and influencing operational colleagues across multiple locations
* Strong system skills including advanced Excel and some Power BI
* Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make recommendations for strategic decision-making
* Management accounting experience gained in the service, logistics or waste industries an advantage
