Aboutthe
As the Principal C&I Engineer you’ll support ourHydro business taking responsibility for managing C&I engineering andcompliance activity across all sites.
You’ll ensure that the site activities continue tomeet or better legislative requirements in terms of health, safety andenvironmental management. Furthermore, you’ll provide technical support to theProduction and Maintenance Teams on all plant and apparatus with a particularfocus on Electrical plant. You’ll play a key role in defining the standard andimplementing C&I Engineering activities for the Hydro Business as part ofthe overall technical risk management function.
This role covers all plants within the Hydro Groupthat includes 8 conventional hydro stations (126MW) and a pump storage station(420MW). The stations are located from Tongland at the Solway Firth to Cruachanthat is situated on the banks of Loch Awe approximately 180 miles apart. TheHydro Group generates an annual income of approximately £200M with an annualcapital expenditure of approximately £6M. You’ll be responsible for managing anannual capital budget of approximately £1M.
As we’ve mentioned this role will include some travel.On average you’ll be expected to attend one of the hydro sites per week withsome office attendance at the Glasgow office for team collaboration. This rolealso allows for some home working. You’ll need to be flexible to be able tosupport the team as and when needed. We do not offer a car allowance but milagewill be paid from your home to the site location (excluding the Glasgowoffice). A Valid UK driving licence is essential for this role.
The average working hours are 8:30-4:45 Monday –Thursday and 8:30-3:45 Friday.
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll be degree levelqualified in a relevant engineering discipline and ideally be a charteredEngineer (or equivalent) of a relevant institute IET. You’ll haveextensive relevant work experience in the Electrical Engineering industry and aNEBOSH or IOSH certificate in Health & Safety or equivalent would also bebeneficial.
