Role Purpose
We are looking for an Event Safety Officer (event-based) to join us on a casual basis. You will be a part of an awesome venue management team, leading the event-day Event Control Room (ECR) operation from the front driving success and, leading the venue’s safety and security operation on allocated event days, ensuring regulatory compliance and industry requirements to create amazing shows.
This is a senior operational role for event days and will require evening/weekend work on an ad-hoc basis.
Responsibilities
* Act as the competent venue Safety Officer during allocated live events, overseeing crowd safety, emergency procedures, and compliance with venue policies.
* Brief all staff on their roles and responsibilities and event particulars.
* On event days, have responsibility for ensuring the event log and incident log is maintained by the ECR team.
* Monitor crowd movement, ingress/egress flow, and occupancy levels to mitigate risk and ensure a safe event environment.
* Support the Duty Venue Manager, Duty Front of House Manager, Duty Security Manager and other operational leads with the safe running of the event.
* Work closely with Security, Stewarding, Medical, and Production teams to ensure all safety-critical functions are delivered effectively.
* Ensure event operations comply with relevant UK legislation and regulations.
* Act as Venue Silver / Tactical lead for incident management, investigations, and post-event debriefs in line with the venue’s policies and emergency procedures.
* Support the documentation of incidents and contribute to continuous improvement in safety protocols.
* On concurrent event days with an uplift in Campus event activity, be deployed as a Deputy Safety Officer to support the venue operation.
* Assist the Head of Venue Management and wider Venue Management team with event planning as requested.
Please note this role is paying up to £35.00 per hour.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Joining the team you will have -
* Experience in a similar role at similar events.
* NVQ Level 4 in Spectator Safety Management (minimum).
* Minimum of a non-frontline SIA license.
* A thorough understanding of relevant UK legislation and guidance including, but not limited to, The Guide of Safety at Sports Grounds (Green Guide) and The Purple Guide.
* Strong working knowledge of crowd safety principles, event risk management, and emergency planning.
* Familiarity with UK event safety legislation, licensing requirements, and compliance frameworks.
* Ability to work under pressure in a live event environment, making quick and informed safety decisions.
* Experience working with multi-agency partners, including local authorities, police, and emergency services.
