This post is to work at a clinical and leadership level to coordinate delivery of care and deliver on KPIs, within the aims of the role and wider Epilepsy Specialist Nurse Pilot and is supported by Buckinghamshire Oxford and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board on behalf of NHS England.
You will be looking to work with, and improve outcomes for, those from areas of higher deprivation or with additional needs such as medical complexity, learning disability and autism, or transitioning to adult care.
You will be expected to work as an integrated member of the Clinical Epilepsy Team and demonstrate advanced clinical skills and deliver the KPIs, within the aims of the role and wider pilot.
The role will be supported by the Band 8 Lead Epilepsy Specialist Nurse who will provide clinical leadership and support across the nursing team, to ensure the delivery of safe and effective care to children and young people with epilepsy within the BOB ICB System.
We are looking for individuals who are experienced in caring for children and young people with epilepsy, who possess the skills required to work proactively and take the initiative. The role will involve working with a number of different teams to implement the pilot within each provider and will feed into the wider epilepsy teams within BOB ICB, providing an opportunity to extend and develop existing skills in caring for children and young people.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Epilepsy Clinical Lead and their team to ensure that their workstream of programmes are planned and managed effectively and take the lead in assisting in their successful delivery. You will be managing a complex caseload of CYP with epilepsy who require co-ordination of care across multiple settings and services.

Person Specification
Education qualifications and training
* Band 6 for 3 years+
* Registered Sick Children's Nurse (NMC Sub-Part 1(Children)/RN Child
* First degree in nursing or experience at this level
* Completed/completing a Masters pathway
* PET2/3 BPNA course
Skills, abilities and knowledge
* Advanced clinical assessment skills
* Able to work autonomously and within a team
* Previous experience of formal / informal teaching of patients & staff
* Ability to initiate, sustain and evaluate change
* Skilled written and verbal communication skills
* Experience in managing epilepsy patients in hospital/community setting
* Previous experience in audit and evaluation
* Non-Medical prescribing course
* Experience of applying research evidence to clinical practice

* Currently working at a minimum of Band 6 in acute paediatric setting/relevant area
