About the Role As the Systems Biology Lead, you will: Develop and execute a high-quality research portfolio focused on healthspan and quality of life improvements for pets. Utilize and expand multi-omics data integration workflows, uncovering insights that shape priorities across the Mars Petcare ecosystem. Provide technical leadership in systems biology, identifying health and disease biomarkers through advanced biological network analyses. Build and foster relationships with internal and external collaborators while mentoring junior scientists. Ensure research outputs are strategically protected and accessible for innovation. Key Responsibilities Portfolio Leadership: Define, manage, and execute research aligned with the Mars Petcare strategy. Scientific Excellence: Lead cutting-edge analyses, integrating transcriptomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, and proteomics. Technical Mastery: Build and maintain workflows for multi-omics integration, leveraging R, Python, and FAIR principles. Collaboration: Build a strong external network in systems biology while managing partnerships. Communication: Present complex scientific findings effectively to diverse audiences, from technical experts to non-specialists. Mentorship: Train and develop junior scientists to strengthen our team’s expertise in multi-omics. What Are We Looking For? Qualifications: PhD (or equivalent) in integrative genomics, computational biology, bioinformatics, or a related field. Experience: Proven post-PhD leadership in integrative genomics, bioinformatics, or systems biology, ideally in biotech, pharma, or related industries. Multi-omics biomarker experience is a plus. Technical Skills: Expertise in transcriptomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, proteomics, and data management principles. Advanced proficiency in R or Python. Veterinary Insight: Experience in veterinary science is advantageous. Leadership: Strong line management and mentorship skills, with an ability to influence across organizational levels.
