Job Description Are you an aerospace qualified NDT Level 2 technician with technical curiosity in inspecting and investigating aeronautical parts? Do you have a problem solving and analytical approach? We are now recruiting for an NDI (Non Destructive Inspection) Specialist to work at our Leonardo UK Helicopter Division, based in Yeovil, Somerset. As an NDI Specialist, working in a cross geographical team, you will be providing valuable NDT (Non Destructive Test) support and interfacing across a broad range of our engineering and other business functions, including our customers, giving you a 360 degree view of our products, after an internal assessment on technical skills and customized training programme. You will be primarily working within a laboratory / structural test lab environment in Engineering Department addressing NDT inspections and tasks to our internal and external Clients, with strong team links to our Italian colleagues, which could also provide opportunities to travel to abroad sites such as our Italian sites. This role does demand an onsite presence. For internal applicants only, please note that this is a Job Family Framework level 5 (Engineering) What You’ll Do As An NDI Specialist Support NDT inspections within Engineering functions and across other departments interpreting drawings / regulatory codes / technical specifications / documentation Conduct the non-destructive tests using laboratory equipment to carry out mainly ultrasonic, liquid penetrant and eddy current inspections. Non-destructive investigations include potentially Barkhausen noise and Bond Testing techniques Support NDT Engineering Level 3 for work instructions and procedures preparation. Maintain NDT equipment and related calibration Compile and issue comprehensive NDT technical notes/reports/inspection procedures/work instructions providing technical expertise on NDT throughout the Company based on internal/external customer needs Support the NDT qualification and certification process Support technical NDT audits/review across the LHD UK What We Need From You HNC/HND in engineering aerospace discipline or equivalent relevant working experience Aerospace NDT Level 2 technician in Ultrasonic testing, Penetrant Testing, Eddy Current Testing (primary methods) and Radiography Testing, Magnetic Testing methods in accordance with EN4179 with Aerospace experience. ISO9712 aerospace qualification on these methods may be considered as well as a potential starting point for further assessment. Knowledge of material science metallic and non-metallic materials (especially composite), manufacturing processes and related discontinuities with a focus on main NDT methods typically used both in Production and Repair/Maintenance/Overhaul environments Knowledge of main Microsoft Office packages and use of NDT equipment Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation Ability to work independently on aircraft or in a workshop/test Lab environment Ability to compile and finalize technical notes / reports appropriate to the client in the context of tight deadlines Security Clearance You must be eligible for full security clearance.
