About Us:
The Melbourne Assessment Prison (MAP) is a maximum-security facility providing state-wide assessment and orientation services for all male prisoners received into the prison system and is located within the North West Metropolitan Area, Department of Justice and Community Safety.
MAP consists of the prison, the custody facilities at the County, Supreme and Appeal Courts and holding cells at St Vincent's Hospital for prisoners requiring outpatient medical treatment.
About the Role:
The position of an Offender Services Officer is situated within the Offender Services Unit at the Melbourne Assessment Prison. The Offender Services Officer will be committed to assisting with prisoner day-to-day welfare needs in a manner which reflects the cultural diversity needs and issues of the prisoner. In addition, you will support the location to improve service delivery to customers and stakeholders. This role may include weekend work.
Some of your duties will include:
* Supporting the delivery of a range of programs
* Acting as a key point of contact for prisoners and unit staff
* Providing advice and support to custodial staff
This position requires direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
About You:
As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
* Well-developed computer literacy and administration skills
* An understanding of the importance of maintaining accurate records of sensitive information and documents
* The ability to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
* Experience in or an understanding of working within a correctional environment is desirable.
