Job Description - Urgent Care Rad Technologist (Plymouth) (250307-50023023)
Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Physician, perform radiographic procedures and assist the radiologist in conducting diagnostic examinations, requested by physicians, by applying ionizing radiation to patients, taking and developing radiographic film in a manner consistent with prescribed radiation protection safety standards.
Description
Responsibilities:
1. Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures operating radiographic and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
2. Position patient on examination table and adjust immobilization devices as required to obtain optimum views of specified area of the body requested by physician.
3. Receive and review requests for radiological studies. Provide explanation of procedures and answer pertinent questions of patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
4. Triage and evaluate patients, obtain major complaints and brief medical history when necessary and take vital signs with complete chart documentation.
5. Assist with decontamination, cleaning and preparation of exam rooms as needed.
6. May assist in patient registration, intake and answering phone calls at the center.
7. Assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and procedures to ensure safety and comfort.
8. Apply principles of radiographic protection using beam restriction devices and patient shielding skills.
9. Coordinate work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency using established procedures.
10. Evaluate radiographs for technical quality and maintain adequate radiology records.
11. Assist physician with administration of radiographic contrast media if trained and sanctioned.
12. Maintain knowledge of departmental and Hospital policies and procedures.
13. Participate in activities which promote professional self-growth and development.
14. Maintain an ethical relationship with patients, physicians, personnel and guests.
15. Perform other work-related duties as assigned or requested.
16. LEAD ONLY: Precept new employees and provide training for all U.C. Rad Tech employees.
17. LEAD ONLY: Create/assist with monthly schedules for U.C. Rad Techs.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) Accredited Radiography Program, or equivalent.
3. Valid Massachusetts State License.
4. Current BLS certification.
5. LEAD ONLY: 1-3 years of experience as a Rad Tech; previous leadership experience preferred.
Schedule Details
28 hours per week - 2 shifts Monday- Friday, 8am- 6pm, and E/O weekend 8 am- 4pm. Occasional Holidays.
