We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Administrator to join the busy Administration Team of the Cancer Genetics Unit at The Royal Marsden in Sutton.
Working flexibly in our small, friendly team of ten, the ability to prioritise and organise a busy workload while dealing with queries from clinicians and patients is essential. This is a full-time permanent post and the successful applicant will have good communication skills and be confident communicating within a multi-disciplinary team and with patients. Acting as the first point of contact into the Department, excellent telephone skills are essential.
Applicants are expected to be IT literate and to be comfortable monitoring multiple email inboxes as well as demonstrating an ability to deal with confidential information. You must have excellent keyboard skills. Applicants also need to be able to very much work as part of a Team.

• To undertake a range of clerical & administration duties within the Cancer Genetics Unit in a sensitive and polite manner whilst providing a comprehensive & efficient clerical service to patients and clinical staff within the Trust.
• To answer all telephone calls into the Unit from both NHS & private patients and professional staff in a helpful, professional and courteous manner and to ensure all calls are dealt with politely and efficiently and rerouted where appropriate.
• Deal with departmental correspondence in an efficient, timely and appropriate manner, printing & posting correspondence, collecting and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and to monitor generic email inboxes, as well as own email inboxes.
• To receive and send email on behalf of the Teams/Service.
• To take appropriate messages, recording details accurately.

• To be responsible for reporting IT problems and to request their support in overcoming any difficulties. To report any problems that may arise with any office machinery, equipment or facilities.
• To be responsible for your own awareness of all policies, procedures and government incentives in accordance with the Trust’s expectations.
• To attend statutory and mandatory training when required and also any other training to improve knowledge and understanding as and when identified.
• Assist new staff to familiarise themselves with the training in IT systems and admin tasks.
