To find out more, please visit www.sygnaturediscovery.com. Job purpose A new opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician to join our Facilities Team in Nottingham. This role is based on-site, and the post holder will be expected to be in the office five days per week. Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician will play a pivotal role, working closely with the wider facilities team and scientists to ensure that our laboratories are fully stocked, enabling our scientists to carry out their important work. They will be responsible for maintaining stock levels of chemicals, solvents, consumables, and department-specific supplies, ensuring inventory is up to date. This will include tracking and ordering goods, using relevant systems to manage tasks and monitor shipments. The Laboratory Technician will also be responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, and repair of various scientific equipment ensuring Health and Safety standards are followed at all times. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Technician looking to work in a niche sector, or for a graduate with a scientific background looking to step into a CRO environment. Full training will be provided. We are looking for someone with a passion for science, who enjoys collaborating within a team, and who is keen on career progression opportunities. Main duties and responsibilities: Using relevant systems to identify tasks and track their resolution (Including Spiceworks, Sortly and Amici). General Lab equipment maintenance and/or coordinating engineers for repairs and servicing of equipment in conjunction with scientists. A high level of H&S awareness and ensuring it is implemented in the workplace. Stock checking, including solvents, consumables, and department specific stock. Waste management, including solvent waste, bioscience waste, cardboard waste, blue bins, tip boxes, Stericylce waste. Maintenance, cleaning, and repair of Buchi equipment, pumps, Julabo chillers, ice machines etc Decontaminations of equipment (incubators, centrifuges, class II cabinets) Ensuring the temperatures of fridges and freezers are routinely checked and issues with any units reported appropriately. Managing lab coat stocks and laundry - ensure lab coats and safety specs are returned to lab tech areas. Maintenance of the chemical inventory and ordering of lab coats and safety specs Skills & Experience: 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above including English Language and Maths. Previous laboratory experience would be advantageous but is not essential as full training will be provided. Strong communication skills with a strong problem-solving mindet. A can-do, enthusiastic work attitude. Able to work to deadlines in a safe and efficient manner – prioritising tasks as necessary. Strong attention to detail. A good working knowledge of mathematics and IT – confident in the use of a variety of IT system, including Outlook, Word, Excel and ideally some experience of using purchasing systems.
