Seren Lodge Mother and Baby Unit, an exciting collaboration between NHS England and NHS Wales, is due to open in October 2025 on the grounds of the Countess of Chester Health Park.
Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Band 8a Clinical Psychologist to join the Mother and Baby Unit team. We are planning for the new MDT to commence in role 3 months prior to opening to enable a robust and supportive induction to take place.
The Mother and Baby Unit is a specialist provision for women with mental health problems during pregnancy and/or in the year after their baby is born. Patients in the postnatal period will have their babies with them during their time as an inpatient on the Mother and Baby Unit. Seren Lodge will be an 8 bedded unit with 6 beds commissioned by NHS England for the women of Cheshire and Merseyside and 2 beds commissioned by NHS Wales for the women of North Wales. The Mother and Baby Unit will also accept referrals for out of area women when there are beds available.
Main Duties of the Job

* Experience of working as a clinical psychologist therapeutically with adult clients with varied, complex, psychological and mental health difficulties
* Experience of working within multi-professional teams
* Experience of engaging and sustaining work with ambivalent clients
* Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care
Desirable
* Experience of liaison with other health professionals
* Experience of providing teaching and training
Knowledge and Expertise
Essential
* Skills in conducting psychological assessment and intervention frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
* Skills in completing neuropsychological assessments and interpretation of results, and ability to communicate these sensitively as appropriate
* Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex and/or clinically sensitive information to clients and professional colleagues within and outside the NHS
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Skills in providing consultation to other professionals and non-professional groups
* Evidence of supervision training/qualification
* Experience of supervising Assistant Psychologists, other psychological practitioners and/or MDT colleagues in psychological approaches
* Experience of research, audit/service evaluation
QualificationsEssential
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996)
* HCPC registration

* Additional Psychotherapy qualification relevant to working with clients with complex psychological and mental health difficulties
