Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Reception or Key Stage 1) Wallingford Full-Time, Term Time only 32.5 hours per week from £16,800 pro rataRole Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work within our Reception or Key Stage 1 (mixed Year 1 and 2) classes. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of pupils, including some work on a one-to-one basis. You will work closely with the class teacher to enhance the educational experience for all children, promoting independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion. Key Responsibilities: Support Learning: Assist teachers in raising the learning and attainment of pupils by implementing effective teaching strategies. Provide targeted support to individual pupils or small groups, including those with special educational needs (SEN) or disabilities. Promote Inclusion: Encourage the participation of all pupils in both classroom and extracurricular activities, ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Behaviour Management: Consistently apply behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive and safe learning environment in line with school policies. Classroom Assistance: Help organize and manage the teaching space and resources, and supervise classes if the teacher is temporarily unavailable. Health and Safety: Ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils at all times, including following the school's safeguarding policies and attending to children who may be upset or have had accidents. Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to improve personal effectiveness, with support from the school's leadership. Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with colleagues, parents, and carers regarding pupil progress, and collaborate with other professionals to support the needs of the children. Qualifications and Experience: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably at a higher level or in a similar capacity. Strong understanding of child development and effective teaching and learning strategies. Experience working with children in Reception or Key Stage 1 is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
