The job itself
Young lady living in Leven – however an anticipated house move to Leconfield may take place in the future.
The available 10 hours per week will be 2 x 5 hour shifts per week. An example could be 7am - 12pm and/or 4.30pm - 9.30pm. There also may be further hours to cover annual leave and sickness of other workers. There is flexibility with the hours and the days for both family and candidate and these can be agreed each week. Therefore, if you have some commitments i.e. school runs, hours can be worked around. If you have a preference of hours / days, please specify on application / CV.
Young lady suffers from Rett Syndrome, which is a complex physical disability, plus epilepsy. She enjoys watching television, listening to the radio and all kinds of music, she communicates using Eyegaze Technology and eye pointing.
You will be required to deliver all aspects of personal care/Healthcare. Deliver nutrition by gastrostomy, assist with bathing, administer an airway before sleep, administer medication already set out by parents, and use a hoist for transfers. The role also includes support with accessing education with a private tutor.
Ideal candidate would be someone with a background of healthcare but all training will be provided.
A genuine occupational requirement for a female worker exists for this post under the Equality Act 2010 due to privacy and decency.
A car driver is desirable – own vehicle not required as one would be provided.
DBS/Reference checks will be required – Cost to be met by the local authority.
