A leading Process Technology company are seeking a versatile Electrical Design Engineer with extensive Controls and Automation experience.
With a strong history of manufacturing in Bristol, the company are suppliers to many Blue-chip organisations across the world, providing exceptional products and continuing to design and develop market-leading solutions.
Responsibilities:
1. Direct and lead design work on customer projects and attend specification meetings with customers, providing authoritative contribution regarding the Electrical design aspects of the project.
2. Design Electrical control systems using AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
3. Write and develop PLC code for machine control using Rockwell and Beckhoff.
4. Write and develop Servo Motion code for machine control using Rockwell and Beckhoff.
5. Write and develop HMI code for operator interfaces using Rockwell and Zenon.
6. Write and develop Safety controller code for machine safety using Pilz and Phoenix.
7. Produce Bill of Materials using Agile product lifecycle management software.
8. Communicate with other design engineers on multiple projects to ensure full coordination.
9. Complete engineering design on time to the project plan and be aware of cost targets in design, purchase, and assembly.
10. Document and archive all project-related material.
11. Aid assembly personnel during the build phase of a project.
12. Identify, research, and evaluate new technology.
13. Ensure that the electrical aspects of the product follow the requirements of the European Community (CE), National Electric Code, Canadian Standards Association Codes, and Underwriters Laboratory.
The Person:
1. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent qualification.
2. Extensive Electrical and Software Engineering experience within a Special Purpose Machinery environment.
3. Programming using Rockwell, Beckhoff, and Zenon software.
4. Engineering Design using AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.
5. Understanding of Servo motion technology.
6. Troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
7. Methodical and clear reporting.
8. Ability to design for manufacture and assembly with a working knowledge of applicable standards and testing requirements, specifically European Community (CE), National Electric Code (NFPA 70 and NFPA 79), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), and Underwriters Laboratory (UL).
9. Trained in using performance safety levels.
10. Design to cost targets.
11. Problem solving/trouble shooting.
12. Good communicator; written, verbal, and presentation skills, highly organised, dependable, and reliable.
13. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring flexibility and fast response time.
