Job overview
The University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin Mental Health Student Service (UCARMHSS)
UCARMHSS is a mental health service for students studying at the University of Cambridge and Anglia Ruskin University. It has been funded initially as a pilot project until March, during which time it will be evaluated. It will mirror student mental health services previously piloted in the UK and run by universities such as Manchester and Essex in partnership with their ICB and mental health providers. The model has been co-produced between University and CPFT staff from both our adult and children’s directorates.
The aim of the service is to deliver a ‘needs’ based (rather than diagnosis-based) service for students. The service will provide three main pathways for intervention:
1. Care co-ordination/case management.
2. Psychological therapy.
3. Psychiatry pathway.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide clinical leadership for the UCARMHSS.
2. Provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment of students attending UCARMHSS.
3. Deliver evidence-based treatments.
4. Maintain accurate and up to date clinical records.
5. Adhere to good practice guidelines for remote working and remote consultations.
6. Where appropriate, contribute to the training, supervision and mentoring of other team members.
7. Support the collection of high-quality data for performance reporting, service evaluation and research.
8. Work closely with other service consultants to ensure appropriate cover during main service hours, and flexibility to support scheduling of team meetings and the team’s response to varying levels of clinical demand.
9. Ensure that they are in good medical standing for CPD, that their practice is up-to-date and in line with the GMC Good Medical Practice Guidelines and will be able to evidence this for the purposes of annual appraisal.
Working for our organisation

These services include children's, adult and older people's mental health, forensic and specialist mental health, learning disabilities, primary care and liaison psychiatry, substance misuse, social care, research and development.
To achieve our goal, we look to recruit high-calibre candidates who share our vision and values. As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applications from all sectors of the community, particularly from under-represented groups including people with long-term conditions and members of our ethnic minority and LGBTQ+ communities.
Please be advised we reserve the right to close adverts earlier than the closing date should we receive sufficient applications.
Regrettably, we cannot offer sponsorship for all our job roles. If you apply for a role that we cannot offer sponsorship for, unfortunately, your application form will be rejected from the process.
