TRAINEE PROJECT MANAGER: Excellent opportunity at a successful, medium-sized Contractor who have a requirement for the position of Trainee Project Manager. This role is based in Glasgow.

Our client is a leader in the provision of ground investigation services. Their expertise covers both geotechnical and geoenvironmental aspects, as well as laboratory services, across a wide range of sectors nationwide.
They are seeking a motivated and experienced engineer with a strong background in ground investigation to join their team as a Trainee Project Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with substantial site experience who is looking to transition into a project management role.

Responsibilities
1. Day to day management and performance monitoring of staff assigned to your projects.
2. Site walkovers and attendance at pre-start meetings.
3. Preparation and delivery of construction phase plans, incorporating RAMS.
4. Preparation and delivery of environmental management plans.
5. Identification, allocation and scheduling of site personnel and equipment resources.
6. Preparation and execution of site establishment and logistics plans.
7. Compilation of equipment and consumable lists and arrangement of purchases / orders.
8. Compilation and delivery of start-up information packs for assigned Site Supervisor, including formal handover.
9. Regular technical and HSEQ auditing of staff assigned to your projects (e.g. Site Supervisor) to ensure compliance with project specification and standards, including unannounced site safety audits.
10. Develop Commercial awareness of contract variations and changes along with follow-up notification to the client in accordance with the conditions of contract (e.g. Early Warning notices, Compensation Events notices).
11. Log checking, verification, and reconciliation against laboratory test results.
12. Compilation, delivery and management of testing schedules to/from designers including coordination and communication with testing laboratories.
13. Technical (factual) report writing and reviewing.
14. Project tracking against each key milestone dates set at the start of the project.
Requirements
1. BSc (MSc preferable)– Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Sciences
2. At least 3 years relevant background (substantial site track-record in ground investigation.)
3. Strong understanding of geotechnical and environmental principles.
4. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
5. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
6. Willingness to learn and develop project management skills.
7. SSSTS Qualification (Essential)
8. Risk Assessment Appreciation Training (desirable)
