Senior Teaching Assistant - Job in Kingston upon Thames
* Sector: Support / IAG, Teaching Assistant
Do you have at least 12 months experience of being a teaching assistant in a secondary school? This role might be an interesting career alternative for you. Would you like to join a charity supporting 18 – 24-year-olds gain skills to help them in the workplace?
You will be working for a national charity that delivers supported internships for young people with autism or a learning disability. The programme provides classroom-based learning (employability and functional skills) combined with a work experience placement – and supports the young person throughout the process.
You will have a varied role. Typically, you will have one day a week from home for an admin day, one day classroom-based working as a teaching assistant, and three days visiting young people in the workplace. You will help them understand their roles, liaise with employers for feedback, and discuss any workplace adjustments. You will also support young people in the practicalities of getting to and from work. Learners and employers are typically in the Kingston area.
You must have experience of working with young people, ideally with SEND, autism, or learning disability experience. This role would suit a teaching assistant looking for a change, or a youth worker, employment advisor, or job coach.
