The Laurels Surgery is looking for an experienced practice nurse, on a part time basis for 30 hours per week, who is competent and confident in carrying out annual reviews for patients with long term conditions, including asthma, COPD and particularly diabetes. The main responsibilities of the role include: Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national or local policies and practice needs. Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health, contraception, and cervical cytology consultations. Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults/children. Providing wound care including removal of stitches or staples, dressings and compression-dressings. Running asthma, COPD, diabetes clinics and reviews. About the Candidate All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience: A relevant nursing degree. Current NMC registration with an active PIN. Experience in a general practice setting. Competence to undertake asthma, COPD, diabetic clinics and reviews, holding relevant certificates. Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, phlebotomy, ECG recording, screening, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations, assisting with minor surgery, dressings and wound care. Willingness to work as part of a wider team, offering peer support and encouragement. About Us We are a two-site training practice based in the semi-rural villages of Hatfield Peverel and Boreham, serving a patient population of 11,300. We are a SystmOne practice with a consistently high QOF achievement and a CQC rating of good. We are part of the Aegros PCN with Little Waltham & Great Notley, Douglas Grove Surgery and the Beacon Health Group. Our team is made up of three GP partners, five salaried GPs, a paramedic practitioner, a nurse prescriber, a practice nurse, two HCAs, and a phlebotomist, further supported by PCN staff including a pharmacist and physiotherapist. Additionally we have a well established non-clinical team of managers, administrators, dispensers and receptionists.
