Job Title: Mechanical Fitter
Location: Cramlington
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Temp role: 3 month ongoing contract, £18.00 per hour PAYE, immediate start
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assembly & Installation:
1. Assemble and install mechanical components and systems according to technical drawings and specifications.
2. Ensure equipment is set up and aligned correctly.
3. Conduct visual inspections to ensure installation complies with quality standards.
2. Maintenance & Repairs:
1. Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on machinery and mechanical systems.
2. Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in mechanical equipment, using tools and diagnostic equipment.
3. Replace or repair defective parts and components.
3. Testing & Commissioning:
1. Conduct functional tests to ensure that equipment is running smoothly and meets performance standards.
2. Perform adjustments or fine-tuning of machinery and systems where required.
4. Safety & Compliance:
1. Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
2. Report any hazards or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor.
3. Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
5. Tool & Equipment Use:
1. Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and other machinery as required to complete tasks.
2. Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Key Requirements:
1. Qualifications & Experience:
1. Relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, City & Guilds, or equivalent or time served).
2. Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical engineering role.
3. Familiarity with working on large machinery and complex mechanical systems.
2. Technical Skills:
1. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
2. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical testing equipment.
3. Experience in fault-finding and problem-solving in mechanical systems.
3. Desirable:
1. Welding or fabrication experience.
2. Experience in a particular industry (manufacturing, construction, marine power generation).
