The Oxford MND Centre within the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences seeks an enthusiastic Clinical Research Fellow for the opportunity to develop their expertise in motor neuron disease (also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS, and the related disorder frontotemporal dementia, FTD) through engagement with an established internationally leading programme of neuroscience research led by Professor Kevin Talbot, Professor Martin Turner, and Associate Professor Alexander Thompson.
The post would be suitable for those wishing to receive training in all aspects of MND patient assessment and care, actively supporting the integration of a range of clinical research projects with the potential to undertake cellular, imaging, neurophysiological, or fluid biomarker research in MND.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
1. Performing clinical assessments and biofluid sample collection.
2. Assisting with data collection and entry.
3. Preparation of relevant publications and presentations relating to any data analysis undertaken.
It is essential that you have a medical degree and full GMC registration, with sufficient specialist knowledge in neurology to work with MND patients and carers, balancing the sensitivities of care with the confidence to enthuse patients about the value of clinical research participation. It is desirable that you have previous peer-reviewed publications and have current or previous Good Clinical Practice (GCP or equivalent) certification.
The post is full time for a fixed term of 12 months in the first instance.
Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Tuesday 11th March will be considered.
Interviews will be held as soon as possible thereafter.
