Senior Structural Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness
Salary: Up to £57,000 (DOE)
ARM has partnered with a large Defence client who is looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to assist on marine build projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Analysis and Design of complex steel structures utilizing Eurocodes, British Standards and BAE standards, to support submarine build.
2. Utilize knowledge of specific regulations & requirements i.e., LOLER, codes of compliance, weld specifications, geometric tolerance.
3. Responsible for interpreting and checking analysis and outputs.
4. Competent in computer-based analytical techniques including finite element analysis, CAD modeling and engineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame).
5. Support the manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of Submarine Structures, Modules and Components.
6. Assist in the production of concept drawings, layouts, and other technical outputs consistent with contractual requirements to meet target dates and budget demands.
Experience Required:
1. Hold an Engineering Degree BEng/MEng or equivalent experience in Civil/Mechanical/Structural Engineering and Chartered Engineer (CEng) Status or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) Status nearing CEng Status.
2. Expertise in structural steel analysis and design.
3. Fully conversant with Eurocodes and British Standards.
4. Competent in reviewing and checking of design outputs.
5. Good understanding of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, knowledge of lifting handling and LOLER.
6. Working knowledge of ABAQUS, S-Frame Foran, MathCAD, and Excel.
7. Previous experience in a marine production environment is advantageous.
