1. The post holder will provide support to the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacists in the Moorfields Private Pharmacy in accordance with relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 2. To receive prescriptions from patients/practice managers for dispensing. 3. Following a period of training and assessment, to undertake the assembly of medicines for individual out/inpatients. This will involve: - Generating a label. - Choosing the correct medicine from stock. - Counting and packing the medicine. - Completing Inpatient Charge Sheets for inpatients prescriptions. - Generating invoices via Compucare and taking payment for outpatient prescriptions. - Preparing prescriptions for checking by a pharmacist or Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician. 4. To give out specific dispensed and checked medications with appropriate instructions to patients after appropriate training and assessment. 5. To Process guarantee letters for Embassy and Insurance patients 6. To support stock control within the Private Pharmacy including ordering and receiving stock from Pharmacy stores and distribution and stock rotation within an acceptable time frame.. 7. To be involved in booking stock from pharmacy distribution where necessary. To participate in a ward / department stock top-up service. This will involve: Visiting wards/departments, checking stock levels and creating orders for stock medicines.Filling the orderEntering issued stock on the computer. Ensuring wards/departments receive their stock (via porter/courier) in a timely manner. 8. To make deliveries of medication to MP Clinical areas to supplement the porter service if needed. 9. To assist in the accurate processing of outpatient prescription filing and recording of KPI data of all prescriptions. 10. To participate in managing orders from other MP wards. This includes booking on the computer system, delivery, safe storage and liaising with the team as necessary. 11. To be involved in the safe transition of both TTO dispensed medication and TTO In-patient prescriptions between Cumberlege ward and MPOC pharmacy. 12. To be involved in stock control for ancillary stock (e.g. bottles, bags and labels) in the Private Pharmacy and ensure these are available in suitable quantities. 13. To ensure that all relevant Patient Information Leaflets (PILs) are photocopied and are always available. 14. To be involved in accurate stock control of medicines in Private Pharmacy, MP wards and clinics. 15. To maintain clean and tidy dispensing facilities and safe systems of work including expiry date checking and correct disposal of medications. 16. To undertake mandatory training. 17. To be responsible for the filing of prescriptions and other documents like delivery notes, requisitions, etc.., in MP pharmacy daily. To undertake answering the telephone and dealing with queries where necessary 18. To handle medicines returned from the wards/departments and patients, making the appropriate computer records, and disposing of unwanted/expired stock following Trust policies and departmental procedures and in accordance with national guidance and legislation. 19. To arrange deliveries of medicines supplied on prescription to patients homes either by post or courier services. 20. To be prepared to participate in other duties appropriate to grade at the request of the relevant manager. 21. To take part in regular performance appraisal to identify areas for development. 22. To attend training courses as considered appropriate by the Chief Pharmacist and to show a commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in line with the departments strategy. 23. To assist the Lead Pharmacy Technician in supervision, training and mentoring of other Pharmacy staff where appropriate. 24. To participate in service rosters as determined appropriate by the Chief Pharmacist including late duty, weekend and bank holiday rotas, as required. 25. To participate in the annual pharmacy stock take (weekend). 26. Any other pharmacy duties, as deemed appropriate.
