An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join our busy, well-established Multiple Sclerosis team. The team is friendly, forward-thinking and committed to service development. We are a Regional Treatment Centre for patients and prescribe Disease Modifying Therapies (DMT's) and hold a current caseload of around 1456 patients. This will be based predominantly at the Leeds General Infirmary, but outpatient clinics are also held at Seacroft and Wharefdale Hospitals.
We are looking for a highly motivated person with a drive and passion to deliver high quality care. Ideally, the candidate will have 3 years post-registration experience. You should preferably have recent experience in the field of Neurology, or experience nursing patients with long-term health conditions and a commitment to developing your knowledge and skills within the field of MS.
Working both as a team member, and independently are necessary requirements. You will be supported by and work collaboratively with MS Consultant and Specialist MDT members, ensuring effective assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients with MS.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will need excellent communication, organisational and assessment skills with a proactive approach to care delivery.
The post holder will organise and manage their own caseload of people with MS, providing specialist nursing support, advice, education and care. They will also be responsible for running nurse-led face to face and telephone clinics, assessment and monitoring of patients on DMT's, recruiting patients to clinical trials and carrying out service audits. They should hold a full driving license as home visits will be required.
They will be expected to deliver regular educational sessions to raise awareness about MS to other professionals and patients. They will provide specialist nursing advice, psychological support and act as an advocate for people living with multiple sclerosis, their carers and provide support to other health and social care professionals. The post holder will be expected to work autonomously and as part of a team.

You will be responsible for and manage a caseload of patients, running nurse-led clinics, telephone clinics, assessment and monitoring of patients on DMTs, recruiting patients to clinical trials and clinical audit.
Ideally, the candidate will have 3 years post-registration experience.
