Deloitte's Portfolio Financial Services business offers the opportunity to work with dynamic, entrepreneurial and high growth financial services businesses.
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager to work in our newly formed Scotland Financial Services hub based in Edinburgh and Glasgow that is primarily focused on funds, investment management and banking and capital markets. We thrive on working with high growth clients and supporting them on their ambition plans through providing a differentiated audit experience.

Our current portfolio includes a range of well-known financial services clients as well as those that we expect to become future household names. The Scotland Financial Services hub is focused on the following areas:
1. Funds - with a focus on regulated funds investing in all traditional and alternative asset classes.
2. Investment management - with a focus on corporate asset managers and private equity clients.
3. Banking and capital markets - including specialist lenders, brokers and corporate finance firms.

As a member of our growing team, reporting to a Manager, Senior Manager or Director/Partner you will:
1. Work effectively in an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution;
2. Supervise our field teams to successfully execute audit engagements;
3. Manage client relationships day to day;
4. Mentor and coach junior members of our team;
5. Help to drive our continuous improvement in audit methodology and develop new ways of working through innovation and transformation;
6. Participate in practice management activities, including facilitation of internal training courses and staff development;
7. Engage with and support wellbeing activities within engagement teams and the wider Portfolio team;
8. Support the development of our practice, potentially through facilitation of internal training courses or staff development.
Connect to your skills and professional experience
To qualify for the role you must have:
1. Hold or be in the final stages of achieving a relevant professional qualification, e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA, CA, ICAS or overseas equivalent;
2. Experience as an external auditor, preferably with some financial institution;
3. Knowledge of external or internal auditing techniques (including risk assessment, audit scoping, devising audit approach, controls testing, substantive testing);
4. Strong interpersonal skills, including oral/written communication, and team management;
5. Highly motivated approach, with a proven ability to work on own initiative within a challenging work environment;
6. Good team playing skills with good organisation, planning and coaching skills.
