In this role, you will be obtaining relevant certifications for products to be operated in hazardous areas, ensuring that product specifications are met to safety standards.
At Expo Technologies, we design and build purge and pressurisation systems. These are machines that purges an area of flammable gasses and dust, allowing people to work in a safe and secure environment.
As we are looking after the safety of others, there is a need for us to work with the utmost integrity, making sure that the products we design and build meet industry safety standards and conform to compliance to gain accreditation.
We are looking to train an individual in how to do this. We will provide full training, aiming to develop you into a subject matter expert, supervising your own team.
You will be working with departments across the whole company, from Engineering Design to Sales and Marketing, as well as liaising with customers.
As Certification Engineer, you will be:
1. Liaising with Certification Bodies and internal departments to gain and maintain certification for products to be used in hazardous areas.
2. Interpreting written standards and building technical reports in support of certification.
3. Undertaking equipment inspections to establish compliance with certification requirements.
4. Ensuring that all work is structured and recorded, and complies with requirements of ISO9001, IECEx, ATEX, UKCA and other relevant certification and accreditation schemes.
5. Providing technical support to project engineers and customers regarding engineering design so that the final product conforms to all relevant requirements, achieving certification.
6. Supporting the engineering team in the product development cycle to ensure compliance for new products and that certification is achieved in line with the project time scales.
7. Ensuring that projects are completed within budget and in accordance to established procedures.
8. Analysing and evaluating data to present solutions and complete the necessary steps following this.
9. Capturing and sharing the knowledge gained; for example, providing training to customers and colleagues.
10. Capturing and translating industry standards and regulations relevant to Expo product lines.
What we are looking for from you:
1. Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
2. A practical and inquisitive mindset with a passion for problem solving.
3. Desirable – 3 years hazardous area certification and/or compliance industry experience.
4. We are looking for someone who is keen for a challenge and wanting to develop themselves to become a subject matter expert, with supervisorial responsibilities in the future.
5. We will provide full training for any other knowledge needed.
6. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office.
