This vacancy presents an exceptional opportunity within the highly regarded and successful Cavendish Education Group to shape the future of a brand-new independent specialist school. The SENDCo – Leith Hill School will be required to start in February 2025 or sooner. Leith Hill School is set in the Surrey Hills AONB, on a 45-acre site. The new school is set to open in September 2025, offering predominantly LA-funded SEN day places for children aged 7–16, most of whom are likely to be able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis of ASC/SEMH and associated needs. The organisation is offering an exciting position for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and progressive practitioner who has achieved the National Award for SENDCo to join them from February 2025 or sooner. This dynamic role will involve a variety of responsibilities, including assessing suitability for pupil admission, supporting pupils with individual needs, overseeing the creation and implementation of individual plans to enable pupils to access the curriculum, and regularly reviewing pupil progress and targets. The successful candidate will also liaise with external agencies and provide pastoral support to both pupils and their families, all with the goal of enhancing children’s learning experiences and their holistic progress. This is a demanding yet highly rewarding role where the successful candidate will be an integral member of the senior leadership team, demonstrating outstanding professional development and collaboration. The ideal candidate will: Have experience of high-quality, adaptive SEND teaching, ideally across the secondary age range within a mainstream or SEN provision. Have led school improvement initiatives as part of the senior leadership team and be committed to achieving and maintaining the highest standards. Possess strong safeguarding knowledge to ensure a safe and protective environment for all pupils in the school.
